VINTAGE 2018 BY VALENTINA BUOSO
"The contrast year: Rain and dryness"
The very rainy springtime permitted to the soil to accumulate some water on the deepest level. Only the youngest vines, which have a small roots system, suffered on dryness during summer time.
The lack of humidity on the surface permitted to avoid all risk of cryptogrammic diseases.
The floraison has been very qualitative in terms of quality and quantity.
From June until harvest time a very hot and dry weather touched the region who permits to the grapes to arrive a maturity earlier than usual.
Thanks to this phenomena the vineyard had a very healthy conditions which helped us to choose the best moment to harvest.
We start harvesting on September 10th and we finished around the 23th.
2018 is a very generous vintage in terms of quantity and quality.
Wines present a complete absence of vegetal note and a ripe fruity nose. A lower acidic balance and a higher amount of alcohol than usual are characterizing
the profiles, which means wines with more character.
Red wines have a strong personality. Anthocyanins are easy to extract, that means wines with a stable color. An exceptional aromatic and structure potential
are the fondation of the vintage.
Wines are richer and warmer than usual with a small lack of sparkle.
